Il Black Yeti è pronto. Il World Rookie Tour 2015/2016 apre ufficialmente i battenti con la prima tappa in Svizzera. Infatti, dopo aver ospitato lo scorso anno il Rookie Shooting di fine stagione, Corvatsch è pronta per ospitare il primo evento ufficiale World Rookie Tour 2015.16: il Corvatsch Rookie Fest 2015, che si terrà da giovedì 17 dicembre a domenica 20 dicembre nel comprensorio elvetico! A seguire il leggendario appuntamento del World Rookie Fest a Livigno, dal 9 al 14 gennaio 2016.

Il World Rookie Tour è il più importante circuito internazionale di Snowboard Freestyle riservato alle categorie Under 18 ed è organizzato in collaborazione con WSF (World Snowboard Federation) e TTR World Snowboard Tour. Giunto ormai alla sua XI edizione, nel corso di questi anni ha visto sfilare davanti a sé centinaia di atleti in erba che in molti casi si sono poi affermati negli anni a venire come snowboarder di livello internazionale.

Non a caso la tappa più importante e prestigiosa dell’intero circuito, il World Rookie Fest di Livigno, ha visto gareggiare negli scorsi anni ben 8 dei primi 12 finalisti alle ultime Olimpiadi invernali di Sochi.

Il World Rookie Fest, in programma al Mottolino Snowpark di Livigno da 9 al 14 gennaio 2016, è una delle due tappe internazionali del World Rookie Tour che si svolgono in Italia. L’altra, il Trentino Rookie Fest, è in programma a Monte Bondone dal 2 al 6 di marzo. Tutti i dettagli per partecipare a questi 2 imperdibili appuntamenti saranno disponibili entro breve.

Durante ogni tappa inoltre gli atleti vengono coinvolti in una serie di attività collaterali allo snowboard: workshop, sicurezza in pista, primo soccorso, recupero di dispersi durante le valanghe ecc. Insomma si punta anche sulla valenza formativa e culturale degli appuntamenti visto che i protagonisti del tour sono dei ragazzi di giovane se non giovanissima età.

RISULTATI ATLETI ITALIANI E NUMERI EDIZIONI 2015

Le edizioni 2015 del World Rookie Fest (che ha visto la partecipazione record di oltre 150 partecipanti) e del Trentino Rookie Fest (85 atleti) hanno visto la partecipazione di diversi atleti italiani che non hanno però inciso in maniera determinante sull’andamento della competizione.

Nella categoria Rookie Maschile (Under 18) i migliori piazzamenti sono quelli di Emil Zulian (numero 57 nel ranking mondiale e 12° nella tappa di Livigno, prima di uno sfortunato infortunio) e Sebastian Springeth (68esimo nel ranking mondiale, 52° a Livigno, 8° a Monte Bondone e 33esimo alle finali di Ischgl in Austria).

Nella categoria Grom Maschile (Under 15) il miglior piazzamento è quello di Marco Kerschhackl, 23° nel ranking, 30 a Livigno, 5° a Monte Bondone e 27esimo nelle finali austriache.

Le cose vanno un po’ meglio tra le donne.

Giorgia Locatin, al suo ultimo anno nella categoria Rookie, ha chiuso la stagione passata al 10° posto nel ranking grazie al 7° posto di Livigno al 3° posto di Monte Bondone e al 6° posto di Ischgl.

Nella categoria Grom Femminile ha fatto molto bene Margherita Meneghetti, al 19° posto nel ranking ma assente a Livigno. A Monte Bondone ha guadagnato un ottimo 2° posto mentre alle finali di Ischgl non è riuscita ad andare oltre il nono piazzamento.

Age Groups

WSF rookie events are reserved to Rookies (born from 1st of January 1998 to 31st of December 2000) and Grom (born from 1st of January 2001 and up), both boys and girls. All contests of the World Rookie Tour will generate valuable results for the TTR World Snowboard Tour Ranks and for the World Rookie Rank developed by World Snowboard Federation.

The WSF World Rookie Tour is organized in collaboration with World Snowboard Federation and its National Snowboard Associations, and it is made possible by Red Bull and Volkl Snowboards. ABOUT THE WORLD SNOWBOARD FEDERATION

The World Snowboard Federation (WSF) is the international organization exclusively working to develop the sport of snowboarding at all levels. Program areas include: competitions, Para-Snowboard, judge and shapers, education and certification, and snowboard activities for riders of every age. The WSF represents a network of National Snowboard Associations (NSAs) who work together at a worldwide level to promote the development of snowboarding. NSA members can find a source of inspiration and support from the WSF for the activities they are conducting within their nation and by working towards the same goal: progression of snowboarding from the ground up. About TTR Pro Snowboarding & World Snowboard Tour

TTR Pro Snowboarding is a non-profit organization that oversees a professional network of events and athletes. Our objective is to develop and showcase the sport of snowboarding through the World Snowboard Tour, while facilitating a fair and open competition environment that includes innovative judging and ranking systems. We encourage riders to develop from rookies into world-class athletes through a 6 Star level rating system; which will be replaced by a new 4-tiered structure from October 2014. Under the new World Snowboard Tour 2.0, the 4-tiered structure will encompass Elite, International, National, and Regional event levels. Elite events will comprise the WST Pro Series (current working title). The Regional, National, and International levels of the WST 2.0 will make up the WST Qualifying Series (working title).
